His career spans private practice in the United Kingdom and Kenya, including property, succession, commercial and cross-border matters. As Legal Counsel at Barclays, he advised on complex banking, regulatory and commercial transactions, developing a practical understanding of risk, decision-making and execution.
Governance and international business
He has advised boards, shareholders and management teams on governance, regulatory compliance and commercial arrangements. His work with investors, founders and growing organisations brings a measured commercial perspective to matters across jurisdictions.

He founded Alium Law LLP in Kenya as a boutique practice focused on responsive, client-led legal advice. Its experience and professional relationships provide the foundation for Alium International’s cross-border model.
Cross-Border Perspective
Allan began his legal career in Kenya, practising as an advocate of the High Court and developing a deep understanding of local law, land systems and commercial practice. He later moved into an in-house role at Barclays, where he advised on complex banking, regulatory and cross-border transactions. After qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales, he built a practice advising clients operating between the UK, Kenya and the wider East African region.
This progression, from Kenyan advocate to UK solicitor through a major international bank, provides an international perspective grounded in the practical realities of doing business across borders.
Why Alium International was established.
Alium Law LLP was built in Kenya as a boutique practice with strong client relationships and a reputation for responsive, considered advice. Over time, a growing share of those clients were operating internationally, from UK diaspora managing family property to investors and businesses pursuing opportunities in East Africa.
Alium International Legal Services was established as the international-facing sister brand of Alium Law LLP. It is a UK-based advisory practice built for cross-border clients, supported by deep on-the-ground experience in Kenya and the wider region.
The aim is straightforward: direct senior involvement, practical commercial guidance and coordinated legal support between the UK, Kenya and East Africa. Where specialist expertise or local execution is required, the practice draws on a trusted network of carefully selected legal and professional advisers.
